There are several ways in which you could get involved with our work in schools.
There are several ways in which you could get involved with our work in schools. Here are a few:
Volunteer
We need people of every age to get involved. If you have can give some time every week to help run a Christian Club or can be available to teach lessons or be on a drop-down day team as opportunities arise please get in touch. We will need to ask your church for a reference, ensure you have a current DBS check and that you have recently received safeguarding training. In addition, you are always welcome to join us as we prayer walk different schools each week and meet every term time Monday morning at 9.30am to worship and intercede together at Chase Family Church Centre.
Leading a Christian Club
Some of the best Christian Clubs are those run by students. Engage wants to support any students who want to run a Christian Club in their school. We can help you as your talk to teachers, create publicity and plan meetings - our team is building up a bank of ready-to-use meeting outlines that you can access online for free. We can also provide week by week support, either coming to your weekly gatherings, if the school agrees, or meeting with you each week out of school to pray, give advice and help you prepare. If you want to know more, please get in touch using the Contact Us button at the top of the page.
Encounter
This gap year programme is run by Chase Family Church, based in North London and aimed at young adults. If you want to make the most of a year out between school and university or full time work this is for you. You would be based at a church in Enfield as part of their staff team, with training each week and opportunities to join the Engage team in Enfield secondary schools. There is far more besides including overseas mission opportunities so if you want to find our more please don’t delay and
The Charge
This is a great resource to equip and help students who want to start a Christian Club at their school. Run by the Message Trust, this is a monthly gathering to train, equip, and inspire young people to share the gospel with their friends.
PRAYER
Throughout the school year there is a prayer walk most weeks somewhere in the borough to pray for a cluster of secondary schools. Sometimes we walk from school to school sometimes we drive or bus between schools to suit those taking part or the weather conditions on the day. You can join the full walk or just meet us at a specific school. To find out where and when we will be praying you can request our monthly prayer updates which include news about the prayer walk schedule. To do this please scan the QR code and sign up.
Hanna Stang
As part of my Encounter year I joined the Engage team and every week I have led the Christian Club in Bishop Stopford’s School which has grown steadily term by term. I also helped to deliver RE lessons and drop-down days (both the Trading Game and Operation Forgiveness) at other schools in Enfield. Through this I have definitely grown in confidence, become better at teaching students and more skilled in preparing lessons. Being part of Engage has been an amazing experience and I have taken a lot away.
